Is there a special little girl in your life who is having a birthday some time soon? Have you thought of some gifts and decorations for her party yet? There are so many things that little girls love. Not to be stereotypical, but generally little girls like to play with dolls, they like stories about babies and animals, they like fairies and butterflies and animals that are beautiful or empathic, like horses, dolphins, dogs… if your little girl is having a birthday party, chances are she will want to have some party decorations and streamers, balloons, a bunch of chocolate roses in a vase, a few candles dotted around the room – out of children’s reach of coruse in case of unfortunate events or accidents – even if they children seem old enough to handle candles, when little girls get together they can get a bit giggly and silly so please be careful while arranging the chocolate rose bouquet and tying up those purple balloons…
While you are at it why not get your little girl a pair of butterfly or fairy wings to wear around the house while she is getting ready for the party. Being dressed up in fairy wings will help her get into character of the perfect hostess that she no doubt wants to be, and you can let her assist you by putting the cakes out on the table, taking people’s jackets when they come in the door, choosing some appropriate music that fairies (I mean, little girls!) and birds like to sing and dance and fly to.
If your little girl’s friends are bringing their parents to the party too, consider whether it is a good idea to have a separate area set up with some grownup snacks and tea and coffee so that the children can have their fun while the adults keep an eye on them from a distance. Chances are the parents will enjoy it better from afar and the girls can twirl around and be giggly without worrying that their parents will tell them to be sensible… even in the light of modern feminism, it’s good for a little girl’s soul to be a pretty fairy once in a while!
