Ideas For Making A Ben 10 Birthday Cake

If your child is an avid watcher of this television series, then you can’t really do anything better for his/her birthday than a Ben 10 birthday cake.  Because custom cakes can be a little excessive when it comes to the the bill, plenty of parents are choosing to strike out on their own, pull up their shirt-sleeves, and prepare to get downright doughy!

But making a cake look just like a cartoon character can be just as difficult as it sounds.  However, because plenty of parents have tried before you, rest assured that there have already been some tried-and-true methods formed ahead of you.  So sit back, learn, and simply follow these directions.

First, you need to figure out what image you want to use.  There are plenty of pictures you can find online, but the Ben 10 Omnitrix watch is probably going to be easier than any of the alien figures.  Of course, the blockier, the better, so I suggest picking a fairly simple image.

Then you can choose the type of cake you want to bake.  Just make sure the filling jives with the frosting color scheme you intend on using.  After you bake the cake, the most successful attempts have reported cooling the cake in the freezer for 10 minutes, in order to create a hard flat surface for their work.  This is called a crumb coat.

Next, either print out the image you intend on using or copy it onto paper.  Be sure to size it according to the size of your cake.  Next, trace the image onto rice paper with a crayon (make sure it isn’t toxic!).  Then, cut away any excess material, and merely lay the rice paper over the cake.  The rice paper will dissolve on the surface as soon as you add the icing.  Finally, use a normal pastry bag to trace the image with various colors of icing.  Squeeze out a border around the perimeter, and there you have it!
