Wedding Parties Are Still A Party
Getting married is a huge event for the happy couple, you look forward to a life together. Buying a house, a dog and having 2.5 children together. There is also a good chance that you are only too pleased to never have to think about Wedding Liability Insurance again, or speak to another person about invitation design.
Once everyone says I Do then the day goes from being one full of nerves to one full of happy thoughts and quite often more than a little alcohol. This is where the wedding part can get forgotten and the afternoon and evening just turn into a party.
I have wondered if the tradition of the bride and groom leaving on their honeymoon half way through the party is so they aren’t around when all the relatives drink that one glass of wine to many and start behaving in ways that make for great You Tube videos.
If you are organizing a wedding party then you should think seriously about which of the guests have a tendency to drink one or two more drinks more than they can handle. There is no reason to be embarrassed about it, every family has one or two members who do things that are memorable but embarrassing at every turn. Add the excitement of a wedding with some free booze and you can find that people suddenly do things they wouldn’t consider doing normally.
So you need to be ready for any misbehavior. I am not suggesting that you have 2 bouncers who look like they could have been stand in’s for Conan The Barbarians bigger twin brother present, but it may be worth speaking to a older respected member of the family and asking them to keep an eye out for anyone misbehaving. The expression that you can pick your friends but not your family is very very true and no one can cause upset at a wedding party like a drunk relative who is saying things best left unsaid.
Having to think about which relatives need to be managed can be difficult, but the day after your wedding is not the time to wish someone had stopped Uncle Bob from having that last Whisky and then taking his shirt off to dance the mambo in from of all your new husbands family.
